Walt Patterson On Energy

Energy futures:

Keeping The Lights On

When I began work on Keeping The Lights On, I wanted to find a way to do so reliably, universally and sustainably, as I explained in a Briefing Paper for Chatham House. Those criteria still stand; but the analysis has gone far beyond its original premises. The initial approach ramified steadily, into strange and exciting conceptual territory. It offers the possibility of more reliable, universal and sustainable electricity services to everyone everywhere. But it is a major departure from the traditional way we think about electricity in society.

I resorted to Working Papers, to disentangle different aspects. You can find them here: WP1, The Electric Challenge; WP2, Generating Change; and WP3, Networking Change. Since comprehensively revised, they are now the centrepiece of my book Keeping The Lights On: Towards Sustainable Electricity.
