In 1998-9 Chatham
House held a series of internal seminars, open to all staff,
to discuss 'major themes' for the new millennium. From the
seminar discussions, informed, articulate and intense, I
undertook to attempt to distil a commentary. It became an essay
that I called Running The Planet - the most difficult
piece I have ever written. The Chatham House monthly The
World Today published the essay as a special supplement
in November 1999, with illustrations by Peter Till.
You can find the complete illustrated version of
Running The Planet here.
